Global Support and Development (GSD) is a humanitarian organization whose mission is to rapidly respond to disasters in collaboration with communities at risk for natural disaster and support them to prepare for future disasters.
We seek opportunities to amplify and augment existing efforts, fill gaps, share knowledge, and support locally led preparedness initiatives. Our preparedness activities center on:
Coordinating funding and logistical support for partners.
Building relationships and contextual knowledge to enable and tailor our approach based on geography.
Supporting access to critical equipment in advance of future disasters.
Strengthening partner capacity and access to critical equipment in advance of future disasters.
Our team has a wide range of ways we can support disaster response to assist communities in the immediate aftermath of disasters. Our growing response capabilities include:
INFORMATION: such as data collection and rapid assessments
ACCESS: such as debris removal and road clearance or remote supply and logistical support
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) support, such as water filtration and delivery and provision of urgent medical supplies
COMMUNICATIONS: such as telecommunications and coordination support
TECHNOLOGY: Wi-Fi hotspots, Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS), and GIS mapping
SURGE: such as specialized and targeted support
We are also able to provide support through response kits, non-food items, and granting.
As we witness a rise in the frequency and severity of disasters, it has become even more critical for us to find new ways to support the most vulnerable communities. Our humanitarian vessel, MV DAWN, is dedicated to supporting communities throughout the Caribbean.
