
Maritime Support
Reestablishing maritime access and coordinating with maritime actors is essential for reaching isolated communities and initiating an effective disaster response in island nations. Operating since early 2023, our Humanitarian Vessel, Motor Vessel (MV) DAWN, is a key component of our disaster response capabilities and enhances our capacity to support partners throughout the Caribbean.
Humanitarian Vessel Capabilities
MV DAWN is specifically configured to provide humanitarian and disaster support and allows us to offer the following capabilities to our partners:

Self-Sufficient
Designed to support disaster preparedness and response activities without placing a burden on local resources

Connected
Operational coordination spaces, featuring satellite communications, mission planning rooms, and accommodations for up to 40 mission personnel

Mobile and flexible
Equipped with a range of embarked watercraft, vehicles, and a helideck to reach communities and support GSD and partner activities

Logistics
Capable of transporting ten 20-foot containers and conducting cargo operations without a requirement for shore-side support or functioning infrastructure

Bathymetric data collection
Capable of collecting subsurface data to support safe navigation and port access before and after disasters

Aviation operations
Helideck operations, including aircraft refueling and underslung load cargo transfers

Potable water services
Ability to generate 60,000 liters of fresh water daily through two reverse osmosis plants and transfer it to shore through innovative delivery methods

Medical facilities
Onboard laboratory services and facilities to support response personnel
